"I find working in a group setting difficult and stressful, one to one lessons with Carol is great as we can go at my speed. Carol has the patience to repeat any demonstrations until I understand it. I now know how to use my machine and complete bags and zip pouches" - Becky C.
"Carol has been a fantastic help on my very ambitious and initially improbable venture of making a three piece, dupion silk suit to fit my exact measurements. She never discouraged me, despite my complete lack of experience and tight time schedule and, in the end, made it a fairly easy and stress free task! She has fantastic knowledge of the material and tailoring, and taught me many techniques I would otherwise have been oblivious to. Without her excellent skills and calm instruction in the lovely sewing studio at her house I would have been sure to be a flustered mess with a disaster of a garment! So many many thanks to you Carol!" - Rosie B.
"I always look forward to my lessons with Carol. I really love sewing and to be able to learn from someone who is so knowledgeable about sewing is really fantastic. I feel like Carol is a fantastic teacher/mentor, who lets you work at your own pace in a peaceful environment." - Yasmin E. (12)
"Thank you for being an amazing teacher and teaching me so many great tricks and skills that I will use forever. I have always enjoyed your classes so much and greatly appreciate all you have shown me and all the effort you put into my classes. I have loved making all the clothes with you and will miss you very much." - Annabel (15)
"I have really enjoyed my lessons with Carol and have learnt a lot. She has helped me with my GCSE textiles work and given me more confidence when sewing, she has taught me new techniques and I am now more comfortable using a sewing machine." - Evie T. (15)
"After a bad and stressful experience with a small group workshop, I searched for one-to-one tuition, thankfully finding Carol. As a virtual novice, I've been learning in a peaceful, relaxed workshop, situated in a lovely garden. Carol herself is calm, patient, kind and so very knowledgeable. Sewing machines and other equipment are freely available to use, and Carol offers sound advice to anyone wishing to purchase their own machine. Classes are a treat." - Allison R.
"Carol is a very nice and helpful sewing teacher. My first lesson I told Carol that im not good at sewing but Carol alwase was loocking out for me when I was going rong and I learnt how to sew with a masheen." - Caoimhe (Age 8)

"I was a complete beginner, Carol has been fantastic, she lets you work at your own pace without rushing you at all. She has amazing patience and makes the whole lesson feel relaxed whilst still helping you to achieve your goals. The Garden Room is light, airy and tranquil, and the tea and biscuits are yummy!!!! I would highly recommend a one to one session, worth every penny."
Carol has reignited my love of sewing which lay dormant for many years, her enthusiasm and professionalism has made me believe I can make beautiful items which I am proud to say "I made it!" My first attempt was a Tooth Fairy Pillow for my granddaughter which we personalised and I know it will become a family heirloom and far better than anything I would have ordered as it was made with love. Thank you Carol!"
"I like doing sewing lessons with Carol because she a good teacher, she always knows what to do and if she thinks its to hard for you she will still do it but a different way and she's a really nice person."
-Wynne-Mae N. (age 11)
"My daughter has been having sewing lessons with Carol for 2 years now, she loves going and has so far made a pillow, teddy, shorts, tops, skirt and is now making a dress. Carol is a kind and patient lady with a gentle teaching manner."
"I came to Carol three years ago as a complete sewing/dressmaking beginner, lacking in confidence, but wanting a new challenge. Now, with Carol's brilliant, highly professional tuition, I have proved that even the most inexperienced pupil can produce astonishing results! I had the added drawback of being left-handed, but Carol showed great patience and encouragement as we tackled increasingly complex projects, and so far I have completed tops, blouses, skirts, and dresses (day and evening), practising a wide range of essential techniques. I have enjoyed Carol's lessons so much, I have now given myself a new challenge - quilting!"
"You explained everything slowly and in detail and repeated anything I didn't understand. It was also so helpful of you to not only explain what had to be done, but why it should be done that way. Thanks to you I can now understand patterns, which is the most important part of dress-making. I enjoyed every moment of the lessons." - Lucy (age 14)
"Carol is an excellent teacher, always encouraging and positive. I really look forward to my lessons with her and have learned a huge amount. Having one-to-one lessons means that she can adapt each session to your needs, which means that you make rapid progress. Having never used a sewing machine before, I learned how to do basic alterations within a few hours, and have built up to more advanced projects including some lovely clothes for my baby daughter, which I would never have imagined I could make. I like how she always teaches you to do things properly and to the best possible standard, so you know that you are learning the correct way right from the start. Because she explains things so clearly, it gives me the confidence to try the techniques for myself at home, and I have now become totally addicted to sewing." - Laura S.
“Learning to sew again with Carol has been a delight. Getting the basics right and ensuring that everything meets her high standards is well worth the effort as the finished result is so professional. Carol has so much skill and knowledge and takes time to ensure that you have understood the techniques. It has been a pleasure to work with Carol and is well worth the investment.”
“A complete novice at sewing, I was delighted with the progress I made with Carol’s practical and easy to follow lessons; after just a few hours’ tuition I had learnt how to use the sewing machine I’d been given to shorten trousers, put in zips, and make some cushions, amongst other things ..... and I had a great time!”
“Carol was a great tutor to me and helped me improve on the techniques that I learnt in my diploma.”
“Carol was very warm and welcoming. Lessons go at my pace and I also appreciate that I am being taught to a high standard and no corners are being cut.”
